Very disappointed. The writing is ponderous and convoluted, with really no useable insights. an academic writing for academics, i suppose, but what's the point if one cannot extract anything useful to learn from? I was hoping for insights into the magic of Sargent's painting. What I found was so much rhetoric that i couldn't plow through it. This was not a good investment.
